I sent my manuscript to a vanity publisher back in 2013; they agreed to edit, publish and distribute it for a hefty fee. I accepted the terms. After a few months, they sent back a lifeless, watered-down version of what I had written. Afterward, my book sat on the shelf in a state of rewrite until I met Jarvis about a year ago.
